Ok let's face it, What's Cooking Wednesdays has been on major hiatus for the summer. I just don't think you guys would be that interested in the really basic lunch food I've been half-hazardly throwing together on the occasions when I happen to have the time (and when my apartment is less then a sweltering 95 degrees). If you're really curious --- today I stir-fried some zucchini, mushrooms, peppers, & cherry tomatoes in olive oil with garlic pepper & salt. I let it cool and refrigerated in 3 containers with mixed green lettuce. Woohoo!, a little cooking effort = cheap & healthy lunch for the the rest of the week!
Some more complex recipes will make their way back very soon, as Fall gets closer & closer. (As much as I love the Summer, Fall is actually my favorite season!). Besides wearing the latest layer-able Fall items, apple-picking, & watching the leaves change colors, I plan on experimenting with some new recipes! Although I'm usually a "make-it-up-as-you-go" kind of girl, I've been recently inspired to open up some of my recipe books that are collecting dust. One book that's un-touched by dust so far is my newest one, "In My Kitchen" by Ted Allen, a bday gift from my friends Jennifer & Khary.
I'm excited to try the wide-range of totally accessible recipes in this glossy, picture-filled book!...
There's a lot of very healthy options, which I already know I'm going to love!...
The best part of the book? Ted Allen himself signed it! My friends had picked it up at his book-signing at the Greenlight Bookstore. I love that they told him I have a "Food Blog", haha...look what he wrote!...
Any favorite recipe books or websites you can recommend? I'm taking suggestions!
